All the cuttings we sell are between 5 and 8 inches long and are grown using all-natural and organic growing methods at our southwest Florida registered nursery (registration number 48020404). Because we are a registered nursery in the state of Florida, you can be confident that we will provide healthy, high quality cuttings.
All cuttings will be labeled on the top end (the end that does not go into the ground, see abbreviations in the Varieties section below).

The dragon fruit plants are cut to be between 5 and 8 inches long by us on a per order basis in order to ensure that the cuttings are as fresh and as healthy as possible. The length of the cuttings is largely irrelevant because dragon fruit are very hardy and grow extremely fast (sometimes growing over 12 inches in a week). All cuttings are unrooted and taken from mature plants that produce fruit. As a result, they may contain some aerial roots, as well as some grayish scarring on their edges or bodies due to their age, which is normal. Additionally, because all cuttings are taken from mature plants that produce fruit, the time for the cuttings to first produce fruit will be shortened significantly.
Dragon Fruit Description: The dragon fruit is a vining, terrestrial plant with a fleshy stem. The plant is fast growing, easy to care for, and grows well in containers. Large, fragrant flowers adorn the plant in late spring to early fall. Flowers are elaborate and bloom only at night. They produce red or yellow fruits that are covered with distinguished scales that can get up to 5 inches long. Enclosed in the thin rind of dragon fruit is a large mass of sweetly flavored pulp and numerous small black edible seeds. Dragon fruit can be eaten out of hand, and some varieties can weigh up to two pounds. In full production, some varieties may have up to 4 fruiting cycles per year.

Growing Directions: Plant the dragon fruit cuttings one inch deep in well-drained soils or pots, in full sun to partial shade (the top end is abbreviated with the variety and does not get planted in the ground). Water this cactus regularly and do not allow the soil to fully dry out between watering when first planted. Dragon fruit typically recovers quickly from light frosts but needs to be covered or moved inside when temperatures get close to or drop below freezing (32°F; 0°C) for long durations.
